This course provides basic IT skills including computer operations, internet usage, office tools (Word, Excel), networking basics, cybersecurity awareness, and cloud fundamentals. It is ideal for students, job seekers, and beginners in IT/ITeS sectors.

Course Modules

Module 1: Computer Fundamentals & Hardware Basics

  • Introduction to Computers: Understanding types of computers and their uses
  • Hardware Components: CPU, RAM, storage, input/output devices
  • Operating Systems: Basic concepts of Windows, Linux, and mobile OS
  • Peripheral Devices: Printers, scanners, webcams, and their configurations

Module 2: Software Applications & Productivity Tools

  • Office Tools: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google Workspace
  • Document Management: Creating, editing, formatting, saving, and sharing files
  • Spreadsheets: Data handling, formulas, charts, and basic analysis
  • Presentation Skills: Designing and delivering effective presentations

Module 3: Internet, Email & Cloud Computing

  • Internet Basics: Web browsers, search engines, and online navigation
  • Email Communication: Writing professional emails, attachments, and etiquette
  • Cyber Hygiene: Safe browsing, secure passwords, and online threats
  • Cloud Services: Using Google Drive, OneDrive, and basic cloud storage tools

Module 4: Networking Fundamentals

Capstone Project

Learners will complete a practical capstone project involving tasks such as setting up a basic IT infrastructure (hardware setup, network configuration), creating digital documents and reports, securing systems, and presenting a use-case involving cloud storage or collaboration tools.

Assessment and Certification

Assessments

Assessment includes quizzes after each module, practical tasks, and a final test covering both theory and hands-on skills, with an optional capstone project for real-world application.

Certification

On successful completion, a Certificate in IT Essentials will be awarded, aligned with NASSCOM-ITeSC standards and NSQF Level 4/5. It is valid for job applications, internships, and further training.
